Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
